About

Welcome to Balkan File – Your Window to the Balkans

Who Am I?

My name is Adam and I am the author of this blog. I am a British expat living in Belgrade, Serbia, who is obsessed with the countries of the former Yugoslavia – plus Albania for good measure.

I graduated in Serbian and Croatian Studies, and after becoming addicted to Belgrade during my year abroad,  I moved there as soon as I could to live and work (quite literally a couple of hours after my graduation ceremony).

Blog Aim

This blog is dedicated to providing information mainly about Belgrade and Serbia, but there are articles on other countries in region, to those who may or may not be so familiar with them. I will share my thoughts, experiences, praises, and groans on everything Serbian and Balkan – from humorous observations and video clips to serious political (though don’t expect well-though out arguments and analysis!) and social happenings.

I hope to share a different perspective of the Belgrade, Serbia and the Balkans than the mainly negative one seen on TV channels across the world over the past 20 years – of course, the countries in the region have their fair share of problems, but it’s not all about political issues, violence, and memories of the dark 1990s.
