In other, less serious news, all the countries of the former Yugoslavia, plus Albania (ignore the Greek flag in the picture above), have picked their 2009 Eurovision entries:
Will Eurovision return to the region next year after a short break in Russia? Probably not.
For a rundown of Balkan Eurovision losers, head over to Belgraded.
Which is your favourite? Do any of these entries have the potential to win?

[...] Connections with the people counting the votes are always important for Balkanian qualification finals, and this year’s local competitions were no exception. To see who had the best connections and/or managed to offer most money to the jury, go to Balkan File. [...]

I still believe that the Contest comes back to the Balkan region…
Have you seen the Euro-countries entries? ;-(
My favorite is SRB!

The winner of the Serbian selection is blooming awful, even as Eurovision songs go. For some reason, though the public voted massively in favour of “OT Bend” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BBfXi8l-Vk), which was at least passably listenable, the jury went with “Cipela” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWUWJ5fI-l4), which must be some bizarre behind-the-scenes bid for Eurovision suicide.
75% of Blic readers deemed this year’s Beovizija selection “disappointing” – http://www.blic.rs/zabava.php?id=82724.
Musician Dragoljub ?uri? says, “In a few years … we’ll be like England – no-one there even knows what Eurovision is, or even that it exists” – well, slight exaggeration, but close.

@Sajkaca,
No, I haven’t really been paying that much attention. The British entry is pretty dire, as usual, even though they made a big fuss about making an effort this year!
@Mark,
Yeah, wasn’t impressed with any of them, and that opera/priest one was just a tad odd! And I’m generally easily won over at Eurovision time with any old nonsense!
