Rasim Ljai?, the Serbian labour minister, had to apologise today for a statement made by State Secretary Ċ½eljko Vasiljevi? advising that Serbia should import 100,000 women from Asia to make up for the lack of females in some rural areas of the country, and provide the many bachelors with wives.
I really do wonder what’s going on inside the heads of some Serbian officials. Perhaps they should think for a few seconds before they speak and choose their more carefully. I think a better way of putting this would be ‘encourage foreign immigration’ rather than ‘import Asian women’.
